Where as traditional realism defines and directs us to a
specific conclusion abstract art can be ambiguous and subjective with symbolic
relationships where the artist creates his own language.
Unlike painting forms that we know exist in our conscious
reality the abstract painter relies on the subconscious for direction, this
forces the abstract artist to question and search sometimes blindly for that
right sense of direction. No road map exists to determine the way, he trusts
instinct, feeling and intuition. This vagueness or ambiguity leaves greater
room for interpretation with the meaning of an abstract painting being unique
to each viewer.
